Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory / Laboratory Manager and the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor or designated Lead Medical Technologist the Phlebotomist provides clinical laboratory services to patients in accordance with Departmental and Hospital standards of care. Each patient is assessed by appropriate disciplines beginning at the time the patient enters a hospital service and progressing through discharge. The person in this position demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide clinical laboratory services to patients served in relation to growth and development over the life span to identify their requirements relative to age-specific needs.
