Registered Nurse - Inpatient PICU / CICU
We are searching for a Registered Nurse for our mixed PICU / CICU - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting.
10 beds with expansion for more beds coming soon, mixed PICU and Cardiac ICU.
- Typical patient population varies in age from neonates to teenagers
 - Surgical cases : General surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiac surgery, CATH lab patients with capability for managing an chest tubes, EVDs, ECMO, CRRT, mechanical ventilation and central lines.
 - Medical cases : DKA, respiratory illnesses, etc.
 - Level 2 trauma center

Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate's degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is requiredCurrent licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification with American Heart Association are requiredOne (1) year of professional nursing experienceCirculating experience preferredThe ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skillsDemonstrate good time and resource management skillsDemonstrate flexibilityDemonstrate strong oral and written communication skillsOperate unit specific equipmentAble to work night, Able to take callKnowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, ACLS and interdisciplinary collaborationPreferred 2+ years experience in PICU or CICUAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Responsibilities :
Performs and documents assessment of the patient / family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental ( age - appropriate), culture, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner.Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problem, and detects changes in patient statusRe-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient's condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record.Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and / or patient care conferences and documents in the medical recordAssists patients / family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriateAssess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching.Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients / families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members.Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner.Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance.Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives.
