Business Development Manager (Life Sciences / Fermentation / FoodTech)

Remote Preference for candidates based in North Carolina or RTP area Salary : Competitive + Growth Potential Up to Director Level Salary : $80,000-$100,000 / year Remote, candidate needs to be based in RTP NC

About the Role :

We're seeking an ambitious and strategically minded Business Development Manager to drive growth for a rapidly expanding life sciences company specializing in fermentation, agricultural, and food technology. This individual will start by managing and closing business development deals, with a clear growth path toward becoming Director of U.S. Operations and building out a BD team.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Identify, engage, and close new business opportunities within fermentation, ag-biotech, and food tech markets.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships, with a focus on RTP and broader U.S. life sciences networks.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and support company expansion into increased facility and operational scale.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align business goals with technical capabilities and customer needs.
  • Lead sales negotiations and manage the deal-closing process from proposal through execution.
  • Contribute to company visibility and reputation within the biotechnology, fermentation, and agricultural technology sectors.

Qualifications :

  • 25 years of proven success in business development, account management, or sales within life sciences or related technical industries.
  • MSc or advanced degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the RTP (Research Triangle Park) biotech ecosystem and key industry players.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to grow into a leadership role as the U.S. BD function scales.
