Project Engineer Position

This position is for a highly motivated project engineer whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical weapon systems for the United States Navy and Air Force. This position is to lead a team focused on developing engineering solutions for defense and military Command and Control (C2) and Command, Control and Communications (C3) systems, in order to enable advanced capabilities of modern day and future weapons systems.
What You Will Do
- Conduct project leadership over the entire development life cycle including bids, project management, design, requirements capture, coding, integration, verification, and certification
- Provide technical leadership and accountability for team and project performance
- Demonstrate a passion for coaching and mentoring
- Possess engineering skills, critical and innovative thinking, strategic planning, and an ability to build and motivate a team
- Identify, recruit, retain, and develop engineering talent across the spectrum of entry-level to highly experienced engineers
- Build and leverage networks within the department and within Collins Aerospace
- Communicate well with a wide variety of individuals including Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership, and customers
- Leverage advanced principles, theories, and concepts of complex technical subjects to provide direction for direct reports
- Ensure compliance to development processes and standard work requirements
- Strive to spend time performing technical tasks and oversight while also spending time on people management, schedules and / or budgets
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experienceThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is requiredU.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearanceQualifications We Prefer
