Patient Care Technician

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Responsibilities :

• Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
• Assist with transporting patients, as needed.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms / areas stocked, clean and orderly.
• Additional duties as assigned.
• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to : monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

Education and Certification Requirements : No Degree or any other education earned (Required)BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)

Additional Job Information : Complexity of Work : Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience : Three (3) months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care or certification of completion from formal training program required. Other Information : EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six (6) months of hire date.
