Located in Wichita, KS, Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital (KSSH) is a regional center for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the spine, neck and joint.
Dedicated to improving the quality of life of our patients, Kansas Spine practices a team approach, providing patients with access to a specialized team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, neuroradiologists, internal medicine physicians and nurses
Overview
Performs laboratory tests and procedures to meet the needs of patients as ordered by the medical staff. Keeps appropriate individuals apprised of any abnormal test results in a timely manner.
Provides tests and procedures in the areas of Biochemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology and Coagulation, and Urinalysis.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient specimens using automated analyzers and manual techniques
- Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and specimen handling
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot instrument malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance tasks
- Follow established protocols and procedures for specimen processing, testing, and result reporting
- Interpret test results, perform data analysis, and report findings accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate test selection and interpretation of results
- Participate in quality assurance activities, including proficiency testing, quality control monitoring, and documentation of corrective actions
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, and OSHA standards
- Contribute to the development and validation of new laboratory tests and procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathology - registration or CLS - Clinical Laboratory Science preferred.
- Two years experience as Medical Technologist.
