General Statement of Job
The purpose of the position is to oversee all backstage operations during rehearsals and performers, ensuring smooth and safe scene changes, prop movements and performer transitions, at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center ("LPAC"), under the general supervision of the General Manager or designee. Employees in this classification manage all deck and fly-rail related functions, on an on-call / temporary basis. Position is responsible for coordinating the safety of the backstage environment.
Essential Functions

Supervises and executes all scene changes, set movements, and backstage cues in a fast paced environment.
Ensures all props, set pieces, and special effects are in place and functioning correctly.
Trains staff on proper handling of stage pieces; oversees stage crew handling scene changes.
Enforces safety procedures and ensure proper handling of scenic elements.
Provides leadership and quick problem-solving in high-pressure situations during live performances.
Assists performers with backstage transitions, quick changes, and prop handoffs.
Acts as a liaison between technical staff and performers to ensure smooth operations and transitions.
Monitors and enforces all safety protocols for backstage operations; conducts safety check on set pieces, rigging, and special effects before each performance; Keeps backstage areas organized and free of hazards.
Manages emergency situations, such as scenery malfunctions or performer injuries.
Attends technical rehearsals to become familiar with scene changes and show cues.
Ensures all set pieces and props are preset correctly before each performance; completes all pre-show line checks, weight line sets as directed, helps with set building and rigging, operates the fly-rail during shows, and handles all fly-rail set-up needs, etc.
Maintains, repairs, secures, and manages inventory of all in rail, deck equipment, backstage tools, rigging equipment, and safety gear; advises Production Manager of necessary repairs / replacements or equipment upgrades needed for the deck to ensure maximum efficiency and smooth operations.
Provides professional, customer-focused, welcoming service.
Maintains a physical presence at the work location; maintains punctuality and work a flexible schedule including night, weekend, holidays and events.
Assists with load-in, setup, strike, and load-out of shows using the stage.
Assists with special event set-up and break down in the lobby, as directed.
Performs related work as required.
