American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown position on a trauma and general surgery unit, requiring a WV or compact license and recent complex wound care experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 33-bed trauma and general surgery inpatient unit with both stepdown and floor bedsPatient population includes multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, fractures, general surgery, bariatric surgery, and complex spinal cord injuriesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3 for stepdown and 1 : 6 for floor patients12-hour night shifts; weekend nights required (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday)Holiday shifts as scheduled with staff rotationFloating to similar units is requiredUses Epic for documentation; prior Epic experience preferredMonitor techs are available but RNs must validate and read cardiac stripsProvide care for trauma, post-surgical, and complex medical-surgical patientsCollaborate with an interdisciplinary team including care management, surgical and medical services, and rehabilitationRoyal blue scrubs requiredClinical associates and respiratory therapists are available to support patient careUnit offers exposure to both floor and stepdown care for professional developmentHoliday coverage is integrated with perm staff schedulingTesting may be required for cardiac strip competency for stepdown units\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of acute care experienceBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredExperience with complex wound care, drains, chest tubes, traumatic injuries, respiratory support, and bariatric patients requiredMust be able to read cardiac stripsDriver’s license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facilityCOVID-19 vaccination required unless special exemption is approvedPrevious perm or traveler employees at any WVU facility must have a 2-year break before consideration\n Benefits\n
