Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice Teacher Education Multiple Subject

Reporting to the Program Lead of Teacher Education and collaborating with the Assistant Dean, the university faculty member serves a critical role within the teacher preparation model.
The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of teaching, research, service and the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
The candidate has ability, education, and experience to teach courses primarily focused on courses required for a California Teaching Credential.
The position will be based at the Stockton Campus and the incoming candidate will take an active role in advising and supporting the future student teachers of Benerd College.
This is a potentially renewable, eleven-month appointment. This colleague will hold the rank of assistant or associate professor, depending on experience level.
This is a non-tenure eligible position with eligibility for promotion to associate and / or full professor.
Duties of faculty :
- Teach 3-4 undergraduate and graduate class sections each semester in multiple modalities, face-to-face, fully online, remote, and hybrid.
- Supervise one cohort (n 10-25) of teacher candidates.
- Attend and participate in ongoing professional development meetings.
- Attend College faculty and program meetings.
- Contribute and share evaluation ratings of teacher candidates.
- Attend and participate in edTPA and TPE ongoing professional development to help support teacher candidates.
- Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication and confidentiality with teacher candidates and school / district personnel.
- Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites. Advising undergraduate, graduate, and credential students.
- Engage in service to the institution, the College, and the community.
- Be actively engaged in research.
Position will be reviewed annually as the workload may change.

Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in a field related to special education, education, curriculum design, or related area (outstanding ABDs considered, if completing degree before the date of appointment).
- Valid California Teaching or Administrator Credential(s).
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a caring and rigorous educational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively engage with colleagues in program development and teaching.
- Evidence of innovative teaching practices.
- Effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal development and growth in one’s own teaching and practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and working with students from multicultural communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest and experience in working in partnership with schools, community groups, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations, as appropriate to the position.
- Demonstrated success as a practitioner doing cutting-edge curriculum or training design work.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range $73,000- $85,000 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer)
