In order to continually provide our members with the highest level of service, Affinity FCU is seeking results oriented and service focused individual to join our consumer lending team.

The Consumer Loan Underwriter is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and decisioning applications for consumer credit and building consumer relationships by cross selling Affinity’s products and services that fit their financial needs. Position is responsible for making lending decisions, that comply with internal policies and federal and state regulations. Successful candidate will educate current and prospective loan applicants on Affinity’s products and services; discuss loan decisions, terms, rates, and all loan / line options; Additional responsibilities include ensuring all documentation is presented before disbursement, keeping updated on all marketing promotions and consistently delivering best in class service to our members.

The starting salary range for a new hire in this role is $60k to $65k. The wage / salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several qualifying factors, including but not limited to : years of relevant experience, years of industry experience, education, etc.

Evaluates consumer loan applications

• Reviews credit requests and analyzes applications in accordance with Affinity’s policies, procedures, and guidelines,. Sets stipulations necessary to substantiate and complete loan request, evaluates all applicable documentation as required.
• Makes lending decisions within established underwriting guidelines. Makes recommendations on loans in excess of authority.
• Daily responsibility of monitoring the queue, the turnaround time, archiving applications, purging expired applications, notifying team members of updates as appropriate.
• Issues counter offers on applications as needed, requesting additional income and / or co-applicant
• Follows up on applications, requests conditions needed for approval, etc.
• Follows Regulation B guide to issue adverse actions on loan applications when necessary
• Builds and maintains member relationships.
• Contacts members regarding their loan application decision and discusses member’s individual financial needs
• Cross-sells all Affinity’s products and services to satisfy member needs.
• Handles branch and call center related questions concerning a members’ loan application.
• Identifies and communicates member concerns to management.
• Performs duties according to established department procedures and adheres to credit union policies, procedures and guidelines
