Job description

Job Duties :

There are two openings available for this position : one located at the Green Bay Campus and the other at the Sheboygan Campus.

Interacts with students as they matriculate by providing a variety of administrative support and coordination for student process including admissions, registration, financial aid, academic progress, graduation, international education, and course scheduling. Provides information to students, faculty, and staff regarding related processes and maintains and updates student records. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

Assist clients (i.e., enrolled and prospective students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public) with routine transactions and inquiries, educate clients about university policies, procedures and resources, advise clients about alternative courses of action, and work collaboratively with other university offices and external agencies on behalf of clients to expedite problem resolution.  Specialists respond proactively to phone, e-mail and in-person inquiries and transactional requests by clarifying the request, diagnosing the problem, researching the resolution, acting on the request, and following up as appropriate.  Specialists make recommendations to the Enrollment Services Manager, the Enrollment Services Directors and Dean on procedural and / or business practice improvements and help track customer service metrics to continuously improve student services and satisfaction.

Key Job Responsibilities :

  • Provides direction to students and prospective students on a variety of processes including application, registration, financial status, academic and recreational programs, and graduation and licensure requirements

Meet and present to prospective students and families at campus events.

  • Applies knowledge of programs, procedures, and policies to provide administrative support and assistance in a student services function, escalating more complex decisions to other personnel
  • Complete projects as requested by supported offices (i.e.-Making phone calls to prospective or recently admitted students, preparing mailers for financial aid, or updating student records to include in a particular student group.)

    Compensation :

    Compensation of $21.63 per hour.

    This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    Required Qualifications :

    Bachelor?s Degree by start date

    Strong technical skills; proficiency with MS office suite, internet research, databases, and other software

    Preferred Qualifications :

    One year experience (professional or student employment) in a direct customer service position in a higher education service office or similar customer service capacity

    Bilingual in Spanish, Hmong, Somali or Oneida

    Working experience with an integrated data base, PeopleSoft proficiency

    Direct Admissions, Financial Aid or Registration experience

    Experience working with ethnically diverse students

    Conditions of Appointment :

    Positions are full-time (100%) University Staff appointments.  The work hours for these position will be 7 : 45 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Green Bay or Sheboygan campus.

    A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).  In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A six-month probationary period is required for this position. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.

    Benefit Details

    In addition, eligible employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually and paid parental leave. Eligible employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
