Responsibilities

This position is responsible for developing and enhancing Mainspring’s project finance and equipment leasing capabilities on both a strategic and transaction level. Reporting to the VP, Finance, the role requires market outreach, structuring of financing solutions, engaging the marketplace of energy project financiers, negotiation of principal and ancillary financing documents as well as leading / developing a deal execution team and coordinating with internal stakeholders (i.e., sales, finance, legal, project delivery, and other departments) and external stakeholders (customers, financiers, consultants and legal advisors). The right candidate will be able to think strategically about how best to balance price and risk to enable further deployment of Mainspring’s product, with deep experience in distributed generation structured finance.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to :

• Execute on the project financing needs for initial utility and data center deals
• Lead development of Mainspring’s multi-year plan for project finance enhancements to its core business
• Work closely with commercial leaders to identify the right solutions to enable growth
• Develop or strengthen relationships with financiers, and maintain positive relationships on an ongoing and post-closing basis
• Drive execution of project finance transactions, including hands-on negotiation of key components of principal and ancillary financing documents
• Develop the transaction team and provide mentorship to team members
• Support other corporate / finance activities as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or related area; MBA or CFA a plus

15+ years of relevant experience, including leading origination of significant project finance transactions

Strong commercial skills, including ability to identify key price and risk drivers within transactions or structures, and an ability to negotiate arrangements that appropriately balance competing objectives

Ability to cultivate and maintain a strong network of professional relationships across the industry

Highly motivated team player driven to achieve exceptional results

The Bay Area salary for this role is $200k-$250k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position can be hybrid. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
