Counselor III- Licensed

Position Description

Employees in this position perform tasks related to the care, treatment and rehabilitation of program clients. These employees participate in the planning, preparation, and delivery of in-service training as directed by supervisory personnel. Employees in this position are aware of available community resources, they make appropriate referrals to same, and they function as a member of a treatment team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assesses clients referred for substance abuse and mental health evaluations and makes appropriate treatment recommendations regarding same.
• Performs case management functions such as maintaining case records and coordinating additional services as necessary.
• Acts as a group leader / facilitator during group counseling sessions.
• Provides individual counseling to program clients.
• Provides family counseling to program clients.
• Provides clinical supervision and coordination of the work of other staff members as delegated by the Clinical Supervisor / Program Supervisor.
• Acts as a resource for other staff members with regards to appropriate treatment modalities, methods, and techniques to be utilized with program clients.
• As directed, represents the Agency in matters of petition for involuntary treatment and consults with other professionals regarding addictions and mental health treatment and intervention.
• Maintain credential to supervise licensed interns that are working at the agency and assigned for your supervision of the intern.
• Will secure an individual NPI number and apply for a State of Florida Medicaid provider number within 30 days of employment, if the incumbent does not already have such credentials.
• Incumbent will permit Tri-County Human Services to link this Medicaid number to Tri-County for billing purposes for Medicaid and other private insurance providers
• Performs other reasonable and related duties as requested.
