Job Summary
The Department of Communication Arts at Union University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Digital Media Communications, beginning fall .
Teaching load is 24 credit hours (typically 4-4). Successful candidate will teach upper- and lower-division courses serving our digital media communications major and its photojournalism emphasis, as well as our majors and minors in journalism, public relations, film studies, and communication studies. Course offerings may be developed and refined in line with the successful candidate’s preparation and scholarly interests. Union faculty members produce scholarship and participate in advising and departmental/university service. Rank assignment commensurate with education/experience. The Communication Arts Department is part of Union’s College of Arts and Sciences. It includes five full time faculty members and serves approximately 90 majors and minors in Communication Studies, Digital Media Communications, Film Studies, Journalism, and Public Relations. The department houses the award-winning Cardinal & Cream campus news source and magazine, an active Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter, the Bulldog Communication Group student-run firm, a BEA/AERho chapter, and the Union Film Society. Other Job Duties Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a terminal degree in Communication, Digital Media, Design, Photography or a related field is required. Candidates currently pursuing relevant advanced degrees will be considered. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who are well qualified to teach courses in photography and have experience with both digital and dark room photographic production. Preference will also be given to candidates with the ability to teach publication, interactive or UI/UX design.
