This pool is to fill vacancies at the three NOCE Campuses: NOCE Anaheim Campus, NOCE Cypress Center, and NOCE Wilshire Center. Job Description Provide specialized academic counseling services including disability management, career, and personal counseling to students with disabilities.

Serve as an advocate for students with disabilities while maintaining effective relationships with faculty, staff, and administration.
Participate in the development and facilitation of DSS ARISE workshops, orientations, and other programs for students with disabilities.
Maintain confidential records; accurately record information needed to complete mandated reports.
Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of program materials and the utilization of effective teaching methodologies and counseling techniques.
Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle.Provide 1:1 and group support for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other areas of disability.
Support students struggling with emotional regulation.
Provide guidance and support for appropriate college level behavior skills.
Facilitate student small groups.
Communicate regularly with DSS Associate Dean and faculty coordinator.
Support in classroom outreach and trainings as recommended.
Support students online with academic supports. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling

OR

Master’s degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or a Bachelor’s degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); and either 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services program or in a program dealing with people with disabilities, or two years of fulltime experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:

(A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or

(B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities are for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge and experience counseling a broad range of students with disabilities, including and specifically, individuals with autism.
Knowledge of federal and state laws/mandates affecting persons with disabilities.
Awareness of and experience with assistive technology.
