Summary
SUMMARY OF THE JOB
This individual is responsible for performing sterile processing procedures that include, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and transportation of medical instrumentation/supplies/equipment and ancillary services to all requesting departments as required, under the supervision of the SSP Leadership.
This individual must be able to successfully demonstrate the essential functions and responsibilities as specified in the departmental competencies. Individual must meet/exceed the criteria-based performance appraisal. Employee must be conscientious regarding procedures and capable of accepting pressure assignments, clerical assignments, and all duties relative to the department. Employee must be capable of interacting professionally with other employees and departments within the hospital.

DSS staff will be required to work a minimum of 8hrs within a placement or a maximum of 32hrs per pay period.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduated from an Accredited Surgical Technology program or completed HSPA instrument of patient care certification program for CRCST/CIS or CBSPD.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology Program as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or a Sterile Supply CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)/CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) or a CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
( Note: Candidates transferring from a different facility with experience in performing instrument tech duties will be granted 1 year to obtain the required certificate(s). All CST graduates will be granted 1 year to obtain their certification as a CST. All parties must adhere to the requirements. Refer to policy OP4-2029 Orientation-New Employees.)
