The Department of Neurology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seekingafull-timeadvancedpracticeprovider(physicianassistantornursepractitioner) with excellent clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of the neurology care team at the University Health Neurology Clinic.

As an integral faculty member of the neurology team, the advanced practice provider will providespecialtymedicalcareincollaborationwithlicensedphysicians.Responsibilities include evaluating patients, obtaining history, performing physical assessments, distinguishingbetweennormalandabnormalfindings,andimplementinganappropriate management plan in collaboration with physicians.

Educational requirements for Nurse Practitioners include a Master’s in Nursing (Doctorate of Nursing Practice is preferred) and certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.PhysicianAssistantcandidatesmusthaveabachelor’sdegree(Master’s degree is preferred) and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program is required. All candidates must have a currentTexas license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant, applicable board certification, and DEA certification.

Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.

Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:

Front-loaded Paid Time Off: to hours ( to days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.

Extended Illness Bank: hours ( day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.

Paid Family Leave: Up to hours ( weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after months of consecutive employment.
