Teacher, Spec. Ed.-(3299147)

Description

Special education teachers in this therapeutic day school (grades 9-12) provide differentiated instruction in selected academic subjects to meet the needs of students with a wide range of learning styles and abilities.Classes are typically 3 to 5 students. Teachers work closely with school clinicians and student support staff to ensure a safe and supportive school community.Teachers participate in the development of IEPs and provide instruction and accommodations to students as outlined in their plans.
Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Effectively plans instruction and assessment.
  • Effective management of classroom environment
  • Promotion of high standards and expectations for students’ achievement
  • Promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity

Additional responsibilities include:

·Maintenance of materials, records, and classroom space

·Special Education collaboration with IEP teams and school clinical staff

·Supervision of Students

·Provide individualized academic supports in small class groupings

·Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Current Massachusetts license for teacher of students with moderate disabilities grades 5-12, or teacher of students with severe disabilities

Master's degree in special education preferred

Ability to effectively teach and support students with diverse learning needs
