Job description

The Director of the Counseling Center is responsible for the oversight, staff supervision and coordination of The Center’s mental health and counseling services. Primary Performance Objectives Provides vision and leadership in establishing and monitoring the scope and direction of the Counseling Center, ensuring its operation is consistent with national standards of practice. Provides sound fiscal management of the Counseling Center budget. Monitors the budget, establishes funding priorities and identifies optional funding resources. Oversees the provision of time-efficient, culturally informed individual and group counseling and related services through training, consultation, supervision and evaluation of the activities of the Counseling Center’s clinical professionals and staff. Job Task Summary Ensures maximum utilization of Counseling Center resources by monitoring clinical activities of the Counseling Center’s professional staff. This includes oversight of counselor schedules, clinical workloads, and work assignments. Ensures accreditation through the Council on Accreditation by keeping the operation of the Counseling Center consistent with accreditation standards, and completing quarterly PQI reports. Collaborate to help plan, develop and implement quality management processes to better meet client’s needs within the mental health and families teams including participant feedback, opportunities for improvement and addressing gaps in systems or processes; continuously monitor effectiveness and quality of interventions and services of The Center’s related services. Maintain a small caseload of mental health counseling clients. Serves as the Counseling Center’s HIPPA officer. Reviews all Counseling Center documents requested for release to ensure records are released only under conditions consistent with state and national laws as well as professional ethics. Ensures that all clinical documents are created in a manner that is consistent with professional standards and that documents are securely stored. In collaboration with key leaders and staff, and building upon established work, develop an overall, unifying vision for mental health and family programming at The Center, including goals and objectives for mental health services, family building, and family permanency programming. Provide clinical oversight of children and families for mental health team, as well as manage oversight of clinical services across community support programming. Conducts assessments. Conduct periodic clinical audits for quality review fidelity and trend data to inform training needs. Review diagnostic evaluations for quality assurance and accuracy and provides feedback to the clinical team. Review diagnostic evaluations for adherence to ICD-10. Responds to and assesses crises involving suicidal threats, gestures, and attempts by the residents. Serves as a consultant and resource to the Senior Director of the Institute and other leadership at Epworth Children’s Home. Maintains up to date personnel files on interns and service providers in collaboration with Human Resources. Represents Epworth as a KaleidaCare System Administrator and assists with training program staff on how to use this database system. Participate as appropriate in the PQI process as assigned. Understands and follows personnel policies and practices as outlined in the ECH Staff Manual and/or department manuals and in compliance with the SCDHHS regulations, managed care organizations and COA standards. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Licensed Practitioners of the Healing Arts Supervises Family Specialists Supervises administrative personnel and interns as assigned Qualifications: D/Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology preferred; Professional license in the state of South Carolina required. Professional licenses may include LISW, LPC or LMFT. Minimum of five years of experience working in a mental health setting with supervisory responsibilities. Prefer seven years of progressive experience with at least two years in a leadership position. Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations, and treatment assessments. Must be proficient with various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic communication. Know or have the ability to quickly learn any database system required Must be able to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church Personal Attributes and Skills: Demonstrates the ability to learn and to practice teamwork; patient and compassionate Understands and respects the necessity for confidentiality Positive and calm presence in all situations Organized with an attention to detail Excellent communication skills in written and verbal form #J-18808-Ljbffr
