We are looking for an experienced Safety Coordinator with experience working in Utility (transmission, distribution and substation) Construction, to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents. Our safety Coordinators work closely with field staff, customers, subcontractors and Management. The right candidate will be committed to the adherence of safety-related polices, procedures, regulations and personal and professional development. This position requires travel the state of Texas and surrounding areas .

You will monitor field operations to eliminate hazardous activities. Safety coordinators should be well-versed in all OSH (occ. safety & health) dictations. Your work will be focused on prevention so you need to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers. The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

Responsibilities

• Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
• Conduct on site safety inspections, observations, investigations and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
• Coordinate with Operation teams to create site specific safety plans and participate in safety meetings to review any site exposures / hazards.
• Communicates, coaches and trains crews on the current HSE work practices and rules, policies and procedures.
• Prepares reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries / property / utility damage incidents.
• Enforce OSH (occ. safety & health) policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
• Coordinate drug screening (Randoms (DOT & NON), post accident, reasonable suspicion)
• Direct accident investigation procedures
• Follow-up with Operations organization to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidents
• Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
• Organize and conduct OSH training plans
• Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
• Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Other duties as assigned
• Essential functions of this position are to be performance at a Company-designated office or field location
• Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards.
