Utility Maintenance

Pay Range: $23.00 - $25.00

JOB SUMMARY:

The Utility/Building Maintenance’s primary responsibility is to maintain buildings and all support equipment (equipment not related to the production equipment). Utility/Building Maintenance will follow daily preventative maintenance schedule for inspections, lubrications, and oil changes on support equipment including but not limited to evaporative coolers, compressors, chillers, vacuum pumps, stretch wrapper, slitter, fire alarms, conveyors, and baler scrap systems. Utility/Building Maintenance will also perform basic electrical troubleshooting, repair and replacement of lighting fixtures, bulbs, switches and wiring, install simple electrical equipment and assist in the installation and repair of electrical equipment. Utility/Building Maintenance will also have the responsibility of maintaining HVAC equipment by assessing and repairing basic HVAC equipment failures such as fan failure, compressor not running etc. This includes spring/fall service of evaporative coolers, changing filters and servicing exhaust fans.

All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles.

WORK DEVICES/TOOLS consist of the following: basic hand tools, power tools, computer, standard office equipment, ladders, and basic electrical troubleshooting tools.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 2 years’ full time or equivalent paid experience in building maintenance, equipment maintenance or in a building trade required
• Valid CA drivers license required
• State of California HVAC certification strongly preferred
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Overtime will be required as necessary including weekends. Graphic Packaging International operates on a 24 hour, 7 day/week basis
• Must be able to walk throughout the facility to perform work related tasks. The Utility/Building Maintenance worker may also walk on outdoor surfaces such as dirt, grass and asphalt
• Must be able lift/carry weight approximately 90 lbs unassisted. Items lifted may be lifted several inches from one surface to another. Lifting of items weighing more than 90 pounds is performed with assistance from other workers or hoist/lifts
• Must be able to climb 12 foot ladders or step stools to access equipment or rooftops
• Must be able to bend throughout the work shift. A majority of bending occurs in a slight forward bend for brief periods of times. This may be performed on a repetitive basis. Bending may also occur on a prolonged basis
• Must be able to kneel to perform maintenance on a piece of machinery or equipment. Knee pads are provided to the employee
• Must be able to crawl under conveyor belts and/or other equipment to check for damage or perform repairs
• Must be able to reach between waist and shoulder height occurs on a continuous basis. Reaching overhead and below waist level occurs on an occasional basis.
