Senior Workday Payroll Consultant

Overview

Senior Payroll Consultant - Workday — Fully Remote

Type : Contract to Hire (C, CTH, D). Pay Rate / Salary : $90 / hr-$115 / hr. Target Start Date : Immediate.

Responsibilities

Client Partnership : Act as a trusted advisor to client payroll and HR teams, guiding them through payroll design decisions, best practices, and compliance considerations.

Implementation & Configuration : Lead the setup, testing, and deployment of Workday Payroll, including earnings, deductions, tax, and integration touchpoints with third-party providers.

Process Optimization : Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and reduce manual intervention across payroll cycles.

Compliance & Controls : Ensure payroll design and operations remain aligned with U.S. federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations.

Testing & Validation : Develop and execute test strategies to validate payroll calculations, integrations, and reporting functionality.

Knowledge Transfer : Provide guidance, training, and documentation to client teams to strengthen long-term payroll operations within Workday.

Minimum Requirements

5+ years of progressive payroll consulting or management experience.

Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll operations, tax compliance, and internal controls.

Proven hands-on experience implementing or configuring Workday Payroll.

Excellent communication and consulting skills to engage with business and technical stakeholders.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with payroll-specific integrations and reporting tools.

Workday U.S. Payroll Certification required.
