Role Description :
As a Prep Cook at Bright Eye, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and supporting the kitchen staff as needed. We value teamwork, flexibility, and a strong commitment to cleanliness.
Location : Brooklyn, New York
Responsibilities :
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring.
- Follow recipes and instructions from chefs to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Assist with basic cooking tasks, such as blanching, boiling, and sautéing.
- Ensure all food items are stored properly and comply with food safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely meal preparation.
- Flexibly assist in various kitchen duties as needed, including dishwashing and waste management.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
Requirements :
Proven 1-2 years experience as a Prep CookTraining from a culinary school will be an assetHigh school diploma or equivalent is desirableExcellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and proceduresStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities and workflowKnowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchenAttention to detailAbility to work under pressureDemonstrate a friendly, high-energy personality with a positive and team-oriented approachAble to handle multiple tasks and works well in an environment with time constraintsAbility to meet the physical demands of the job, such as staying on your feet, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy objectsMoving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and propertyAbility to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standardsFULL AVAILABILITY- daytime hours, evening hours, and weekends
