Cost Analyst Manager (Cosmetic & Personal Care Manufacturing)

Position Information

Position Summary

Bayport Laboratory is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Analyst to support all aspects of product costing and financial analysis within our personal care and cosmetic manufacturing operations. This in-office role will partner with Sales, R&D, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure accurate product cost modeling, margin analysis, and strategic pricing decisions. This is a non-remote position, requiring consistent on-site presence to collaborate directly with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate cost models for all product types, including liquids, powders, skincare, hair care, and color cosmetics.
• Analyze and calculate formula costs, batching costs, labor (per operator / line), packaging, shipping, warehousing, excess raw materials, overhead, and miscellaneous expenses.
• Collaborate with R&D to track ingredient costs, batch sizes, yields, and processing requirements.
• Work with Operations to calculate labor and equipment usage, production line efficiency, and waste management.
• Partner with Sales to provide quote support, margin analysis, and pricing recommendations for both internal and customer-facing cost structures.
• Maintain standard cost databases and update as raw materials, packaging, or labor costs change.
• Analyze variances between planned vs. actual costs and provide actionable insights to management.
• Prepare financial reporting and cost summaries to support business planning and decision-making.
• Assist in new product development by providing cost projections and identifying potential savings or margin opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements related to cost tracking and reporting.

Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in cost analysis or financial planning within personal care, cosmetics, or specialty manufacturing.
• Expertise in color cosmetics, skincare, hair care, and other specialty personal care products.
• Strong understanding of KPIs, margin analysis, standard costing, and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), and financial modeling tools.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate across Sales, R&D, Operations, and Finance.
• Must be able to work on-site full-time at Bayport Laboratory.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with new product development cost projections in a personal care manufacturing environment.
• Ability to analyze complex production data, including batch yields, labor efficiency, and raw material usage.
• Knowledge of packaging, filling equipment, and shipping logistics in cosmetics manufacturing.
• Experience in identifying cost savings and efficiency improvements across multi-department operations.
