Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Coding Specialist will apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for outpatient and inpatient encounters, validate charges, and communicate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding compliance. Key responsibilities Accurately determine diagnosis and procedure codes from patient health records and other systems Validate charges against health record documentation and track issues requiring follow-up Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding documentation needs Required qualifications High School Diploma with 2 years of coding experience or an Associate's degree in Coding (or similar field) with no experience required Preferred certifications include Certified Coding Specialist from CCHIIM or other relevant coding certifications from AAPC Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS coding principles, and third-party reimbursement regulations Experience with encoding/grouping software and standard desktop computer systems Understanding of documentation regulations from Joint Commission and CMS
