Schedule / Shift : Monday – Friday, 8 : 30 AM – 5 : 00 PM

Job Description

The Behavioral Health Consultant will work as part of an integrated team within the Behavioral Health Department at a specialized medical center for HIV / AIDS treatment and prevention. This role involves close collaboration with medical staff to provide comprehensive care, and help clients achieve independent, fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities / Job Duties

• Provide consultation to Primary Care Providers (PCP) to enhance understanding of patients and support short-term treatment planning for better medical outcomes.
• Conduct individual consultations and schedule weekly sessions with clients on assigned caseload.
• Screen patients for substance use and mental health disorders using evidence-based tools.
• Collaborate with PCPs for patients with positive screenings and facilitate referrals as needed.
• Use motivational interviewing and psychoeducation with patients and their supports.
• Offer brief cognitive interventions to promote positive thinking and self-efficacy.
• Develop self-care plans and provide skills training for disease management, coping, and stress reduction.
• Assist with crisis intervention and alert clinic staff as appropriate.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with facility policies.
