Overview Join Our Team at Mercy Medical Center – On-Call Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate. This role delivers crisis counseling and advocacy to patients identified as domestic violence (DV) and/or sexual assault (SA) victims, with duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Family Violence Response Program (FVRM) Manager, provide high-quality crisis counseling and advocacy. Support safety planning, danger assessment, emotional support, and resource linkage. Deliver supportive advocacy and ensure warm hand-offs to other area providers. Qualifications Education/Experience Required: Human Service-related college degree. May substitute suitable 2 years of work experience with DV/SA victims. Preferred: Master’s in Social Work or health-related field. Preferred: Two years experience working with victims of violence. Experience in an acute healthcare setting. Licenses/Certifications Current MD Driver's license, automobile and proof of automobile insurance Physical Requirements Must be able to pay close attention to detail during intervention work times Must be able to sit, stand and walk for up to 80% of the work time Working Conditions Emergency Department and Maternal Child Health hospital unit work environments Normal office environment; use of standard office equipment Work with interdisciplinary staff up to 70% of the time with varied levels of stress May be exposed to communicable disease, clinical environment, unpleasant conditions, and hazardous chemicals Skills Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault dynamics and their impact on health and wellness Proficiency with computers, including electronic medical records and Microsoft Word/Excel Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to work effectively with persons in crisis Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism under pressure; collaborate with healthcare providers, community partners, and law enforcement Ability to provide constructive feedback to providers regarding care delivery to DV/SA patients Salary Min: USD $30.28/hour Max: USD $49.96/hour Salary Information: Compensation decisions align with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair pay practices.
