Job description

The following position is is available for the 2026-27 School YearJOB DESCRIPTIONServe the district as a leader in data-based decision making, problem solving, research, and best practices in the fields of education, disabilities, school psychology, mental health, and child development. Consult with other district leaders (e.g., directors, supervisors, coaches) toward district goals of student academic achievement and mental wellness in addition to completing assessments, multi-factored evaluations, and consultation regarding individual students consistent with state mandated requirements.Essential Functions:Serve as chairperson of the Building(s) Intervention Assistance Team and multi-factored evaluation teamConsult with school personnel in identifying children who need individual assessment(s)Provide intensive psycho-educational evaluations of individual children suspected of having educational disabilitiesSelect and administer appropriate assessment instruments to determine educational needs and eligibility for special education servicesReview school records and consult with school personnel, parents, agency representatives, physicians and other appropriate personnel for facts of diagnostic significanceGather all information from Multifactored Evaluation/Evaluation Team Report (MFE/ETR) members and compile a written team report delineating the results of the team evaluation including recommendations for programs and services and suggestions for Individual Educational Programs (IEP)Interpret test findings, observations, and recommendations to parents, students (if appropriate), teachers, principals, counselors, and other appropriate school personnelConsult with teachers, principals, parents, and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education, behavior, and/or mental health of studentsAssist teachers in implementing or modifying instruction, classroom management, and intervention strategiesConsult with school personnel regarding retention/promotion, changes in academic programs, shifts to other classrooms or teachers, transfers to other schools, and referrals to selected remedial programsProvide short-term counseling for special education studentsEvery three years, or more frequently if conditions warrant reevaluate students receiving special education servicesParticipate in and help conduct in-service training programs and staff development, when requested by the Director of Student ServicesMaintain respect at all times for confidential informationMaintain accurate and complete records as requiredCollaborate with colleaguesObserve ethics of the teaching professionKeep current knowledge of all rules and regulations regarding special education standardsPerform any other duties assigned by the Director of Student ServicesOther Duties and Responsibilities:Promote good public relationsProvide mental health activities for children within the scope of school-based practiceMaintain Medicaid logsServe as a role model for studentsRespond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate mannerEstablish and maintain cooperative professional relationshipsAssist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materialsRepresent the district at local, state and regional activities/committees as agreed toParticipate in intervention assistance team meetingsMaintain and improve professional competence by attending professional seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current on relevant issuesCounsel, advise, encourage, and motivate studentsPerform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services/Superintendent or designeeQualifications:Master's degree in educational psychology or equivalent from a four-year college or universityAppropriate State of Ohio certifications/licenseSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriateRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work effectively with othersAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writingEffective, active listening skillsOrganizational and problem solving skillsSpecialized skill in evaluation procedures for student academic/behavioral problemsAbility to operate various office equipmentBasic skills in counseling and consultationKnowledge of educational psychologyComputer/word processing skillsEquipment professional development outside of district, evaluation, assessment, IEP and placement, meetings outside of districtOccasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to work on all scheduled school days, except calamity daysOccasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 25 poundsOccasional requirement to operate school district
