Job description
Community Health Worker | $17/hr. | Southwest Houston area | Temporary (2 months)What Matters Most:
  • Hourly pay rate of $17 per hour
  • Schedule: Full-Time: 40 hours weekly
  • Location: Southwest Houston-based, but will require field work
  • Temporary assignment supporting a community-focused initiative
  • Weekly pay with direct deposit or pay card

Job Description:Harris County Public Health Services is partnering with Team1Medical to seek a Community Health Worker to support their Lead Poisoning Prevention and Environmental Public Health initiatives. This role serves as a key liaison between HCPH and the community—educating residents, promoting available programs, and connecting individuals and families to vital public health resources.Responsibilities:
  • Conduct diverse outreach and community engagement activities, including canvassing local businesses and organizations, attending community events, making outreach calls, and delivering presentations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to support HCPH outreach objectives; recommend improvements to strategies and assist with developing and updating program trainings for the outreach team.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HCPH programs and services to effectively educate, promote, and connect community members to available resources.
  • Track, collect, and submit daily and weekly outreach data to ensure accurate reporting and program accountability.
  • Initiate referrals to HCPH programs and services while maintaining confidentiality and building strong partnerships with community stakeholders and organizations.
  • Develop and facilitate educational presentations and workshops for diverse audiences and assist with special projects, including response efforts during emergency events.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in Community Engagement and/or Public Health.
