Position Description

Think Tank is seeking a Seasonal Sea-Going Technician Level II to assist NOAA with annual fishery-independent monitoring surveys in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean . These positions focus on field sampling and data collection at sea ; no land-based support between trips is required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in 5–140 days at sea annually, standing up to 12-hour watches.
• Assist with sorting, identifying, measuring, dissecting, and sampling fish and invertebrates, including age, growth, maturity, genetics, and diet studies.
• Collect and annotate optical survey data (image review, species ID, organism measurements).
• Maintain scientific protocols to ensure high-quality data collection.
• Support general shipboard sampling activities, organization, and clean-up.
• Operate and troubleshoot electronic data acquisition systems.
