American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN for a Ventricular Assist Device Coordinator role requiring DC RN licensure and VAD management experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) focusing on ventricular assist device (VAD) patientsCoordinates the monitoring and care of patients with VADs during procedures and operationsDay shift schedule from 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, Monday through FridayIncludes weeknight call from 5 : 00 pm to 8 : 00 am and weekend call from Friday 5 : 00 pm through Monday 7 : 00 amCall is remote unless on-site response is medically necessaryResponsible for collaborating with materials management and equipment technicians to maintain VAD inventory and compliance with FDA recallsVAD call responsibilities include sitting procedures and patient educationMandatory completion of required modules prior to start and possibly during orientationCandidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius to qualify for travel pay ratesReturning staff must have a minimum one-year break from prior Medstar employmentHoliday and weekend coverage may be required per call scheduleNo more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, with no time off in the first two weeksRequirements
Current DC RN license required or proof of pending DC license status at time of consideration, with license in hand before startBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredExperience in CVICU nursing with proficiency in VAD care and managementVAD Certification preferred within 18 months of hireAbility to educate VAD patients in accordance with regulatory standardsTwo supervisor references requiredBenefits
