Job Title
General Function : Directs the activities of a group or team of shop employees involved in a specific production, repair, or material handling process to meet company quality and safety standards within production schedules, in the most cost-effective manner. Supervises general hourly employees, welders, painters, plant clerks, etc. Works under the general direction of a plant superintendent, plant manager, or other plant management position.
Typical Duties :
- Determines work procedures, equipment, and supplies needed, and manpower requirements to complete assignments per production drawing.
- Selects, supervises, assigns, instructs, and schedules shop employees.
- Monitors work processes and products to ensure quality, safety, and cost containment standards are maintained.
- Coordinates with other phases of operation to meet schedules and obtain necessary materials and equipment.
- Ensures company equipment is properly handled, maintained, and secured.
- Consults with engineers and quality assurance inspectors regarding the integrity of products.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Considerable knowledge of plant operations with particular emphasis on techniques and equipment for area involved.Ability to read and interpret blueprints or work objectives.Ability to effectively plan work procedures, equipment, material, and manpower needs.Ability to effectively build and lead a productive work group and to perform as a member of a management team.Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.Desirable Experience & Training :
