Location : Mobile, AL

Shift : 1st Shift Mon - Fri

Position Status : Contract to Hire

Job Description :

We're seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join our facilities maintenance team in [City, State] . This position is responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on a wide range of commercial and industrial HVAC systems . The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in system diagnostics, controls, and repair, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.

As an HVAC Technician II, you'll troubleshoot and service equipment such as air handling units (AHUs), air conditioning units (ACUs), heat pumps, variable air volume (VAV) systems, and direct digital controls (DDCs). Experience with chillers, boilers, and kitchen HVAC systems is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVACR systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, pumps, motors, compressors, and control systems.
  • Operate and monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) for system performance and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and equipment manuals to perform repairs and installations.
  • Conduct refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging using EPA-compliant best practices.
  • Maintain accurate logs for equipment performance, refrigerant usage, water treatment, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Manage inventory of tools, filters, belts, and spare parts to ensure operational readiness.
  • Assist with system upgrades, modifications, and capital improvement projects.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and lockout / tagout protocols.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service and respond promptly to facility issues.

Required Skills / Education :

  • Education : High school diploma or GED required; trade or technical school certification in HVAC or a related field preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing HVACR systems in a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Certifications :
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Strong knowledge of HVACR systems, building controls, and refrigeration principles.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with tools and diagnostic instruments related to HVAC service and repair.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for tracking work orders and maintenance records.
  • Soft Skills :
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment in a high-paced setting.
