About The Position

Must-Have :

• Level 1 trauma experience required.
• Experience in larger facilities with high acuity patients.
• Comfort with lines, chest tubes, and hematology / oncology procedures.

Description :

This position requires compliance with a 50-mile radius rule.

A fingerprint requirement is in place, with remote processing allowing for 10 days.

In-person processing can be done at designated campuses prior to starting.

A flu vaccine is required, with a deadline for submission.

Medical exemptions will be accepted only with documented evidence from a healthcare provider.

Proficiency with Epic charting is required.

Experience in hematology and oncology is preferred, although certification is not mandatory.

The unit typically hosts a patient ratio of 1 : 5, with adjustments for higher acuity.

Required certifications include BLS, and charge RNs are encouraged to have ACLS.

Common patient diagnoses include hematology / oncology and chemotherapy patients.

Nurses may need to titrate drips for specific medications under direct orders.

Telemetry capability is available in all units, and central monitoring stations will assist nurses.

Charge nurses may take on light patient assignments but are available to take full loads as needed.

Registered Nurse aids are incorporated into patient care.

Respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP will be utilized.

Self-scheduling is encouraged, with attempts made to accommodate block scheduling.

Registered Nurses are expected to work every other weekend or as needed for department requirements.

Holiday shifts will be rotated with regular staff.

Floating between medical-surgical units is expected, adhering to skill set competency.

A professional dress code requires solid color scrubs.

The first day will entail completing paperwork and familiarization with the unit.

Charting will utilize an electronic medical record system.

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for this position.

This role is set in an acute care division.
