Job Role: Front of House at Cleo Bagels!

Job Summary: We are seeking an energetic and reliable individual with relevant experience to join our Front of House team. Front of House at the bagel shop means taking customers' orders, wrapping and bagging/working on expo, preparing drinks, restocking, cleaning, and more.

Position Type: Full Time, 4x 9 hour shifts, -36 hours/week; Saturday and Sunday availability is a must!

FRONT OF HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Customer Service:
• Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanor ensuring a positive first impression.
• Take customer orders and provide recommendations as needed.
• Ensure prompt and accurate order fulfillment.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
• Ability to provide customers with options and an experience tailored to their tastes.
• Order Management:
• Prepare and assemble bagel orders according to customer preferences.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared and bagged correctly.
• Balance managing Online Ordering and in-person orders efficiently.
• Cash Handling:
• Process customer transactions accurately using cash registers or point-of-sale systems.
• Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment accurately and securely.
• Provide correct change and receipts.
• Maintaining Cleanliness:
• Keep the counter area and service areas clean and organized to best support your team and the overall flow of business.
• Assist in maintaining overall cleanliness of the bagel shop.
• Monitor and restock grocery items and supplies as needed.
• Support with cleaning the Front of House area at the end of each shift.
• Product Knowledge:
• Stay informed about our baked goods, spreads, and menu items.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of our menu while providing accurate information about ingredients and allergens to customers.
• Make recommendations based on customer preferences, tastes, and input.
• Team Collaboration:
• Communicate and work closely with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate customer feedback and concerns to the Front of House Lead and Owner.
• Support your teammates by offering assistance when necessary.
• Use ‘downtime’ collaboratively and effectively to stay prepared for busier times of the day.
• Gain experience to better anticipate the needs of the day and your coworkers to better ensure a smooth workday.
• Additional Duties:
• From time to time we may require support with some Back of House tasks. Cross-training is a strength of our business and an opportunity for any member of staff to grow their skill sets.
• If a candidate has meaningful barista experience we may cross-train at our sister shop next door, Little Bean.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills for accurate order processing.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and reach when necessary.

BACK OF HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Support on sandwich station managing multiple tickets/orders at once, ensuring sandwiches are built correctly and to our standards and that they are handled neatly nd in a timely fasion.
• General Prep: Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, weighing and portioning ingredients, light stovetop and oven work, and more.
• Recipes: Follow recipes to prepare several of our signature offerings including whitefish and egg salads.
• Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain a clean and organized back-of-house area, including work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to support a smooth and efficient operation. This includes communicating well wiith all members of staff and ownership, and being able to respond to the needs of the business quickly and collaboratively.
• Adherence to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Opening: Show up ready to work and get sandwich station set up in a thoughtful and timely manner. Take stock of the station and contribute to prep list as needed.
• Closing: Hit reset on the station and get tools and dishware to our dishwasher in a timely fashion. Wipe down all surfaces, handles, etc. and sweep/vacuum area as needed.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Pitch in with other kitchen tasks as needed - dough work, dishes, detailed cleaning, etc.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in similar roles is preferred.
• The shop is pescatarian. This means we do not process meat but we do process fish. This currently includes whole smoked whitefish, cold smoked salmon (lox), and tinned sardines. Candidates must be comfortable with preparing *all* sandwich components.
• Seeking a candidate with excellent time management.
• An ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Full Time availability is a requirement.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.
