Specialty Foods Group LLC a division of Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is a fully integrated retail, foodservice and private label producer of fresh and processed meats based in Delphi, Indiana. Since the start of operations in 1991, we have experienced rapid growth from a single pork processing company into a multi-plant diversified producer of fresh and processed meats, with locations throughout America's Heartland and revenues of approximately $1.5B. We are best known for our national brand Kentucky Legend (the best-selling quarter-sliced ham in the United States) as well as a number of well-known regional brands, including Indiana Kitchen, Fischer's, Field, Mickelberry's, Kentuckian Gold, and Scott Pete. We now have processing facilities in Frankfort, Indiana; Holland, Michigan; and Owensboro, Kentucky.

Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Summary

Specialty Foods Groups (SFG) is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the preventative and corrective maintenance process, operating procedures, and supporting the production operation at Specialty Foods Groups (SFG). This position is responsible for supervising maintenance team members in a processing environment and ensuring established daily preventative maintenance targets are achieved. The Maintenance Supervisor will utilize their skill, experience and decision-making ability to ensure equipment downtime is minimized and preventative and corrective maintenance are efficiently completed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the activities of maintenance team members in accordance with established procedure
  • Coach team members on safety, quality/SQF, efficiency, and cost improvements.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for team members.
  • Attend roll call to assign daily work, answer questions, and give a safety reminder to team members.
  • Check and correct team members for PPE, Lockout, and GMP/SQF violations, and ensure they are carrying required tools.
  • Assign work, review/audit PM's, and follow-up with team members to ensure quality.
  • Develop work list from your area, ensure parts needed are on hand, and schedule are completed, including weekends.
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 Minute Downtime Forms to AMS daily.
  • Provide information to AMS for carry over items and weekend list tasks.
  • Communicate downtime and follow-up to AMS, SPV's, CL's, MS, & DM. Meet with AMS or MS on duty at the end of your shift each day.
  • Monitor radio calls to be present at breakdowns in your area.
  • Audit 10 PM's in your area per week to check thoroughness and determine any training needs.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Confers with workers' to resolve complaints or issues.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance leadership experience in a meat processing manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of USDA and HACCP procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to multi-task in a work a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work around raw meat
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of shifts and work extensive overtime, including weekends
  • Good computer literacy skills and possess ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Results driven and employee-oriented
  • Commitment to follow safety policies and practices and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Uphold company policies and ethical standards
  • Good leadership and motivational skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to attend classes or training as needed
  • Able to apply math concepts
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

This position is floor based and requires standing, walking for long periods of time. Not typical but there will be periods when you may have to assist in moving boxes up to 90lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
