Owning the technical direction of a strangler-fig modernization, the full-time remote Technical Lead Solution Architect will manage the architecture and engineering of a legacy Java estate and its cloud-native successor, ensuring seamless integration and deployment across multiple cloud providers. Key responsibilities Set and defend the technical approach for decomposing legacy functions into microservices while maintaining production stability Guide development teams in Java/Spring services, React UI, and data pipelines, ensuring a strong security posture and technical quality gates Collaborate with stakeholders to align architecture decisions with public health workflows and support migration engineering for jurisdiction onboarding Required qualifications Master's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with equivalent substitution Hands-on architecture ownership of Kubernetes-based microservice platforms (EKS or AKS, Terraform, Helm) Depth in Java/Spring and event-driven architectures (Kafka), with production experience in search or pipeline tooling such as Elasticsearch and NiFi Experience sustaining legacy Java estates alongside modernization efforts Ability to obtain a federal background investigation and PIV credential
