Traffic Sign Technician
Salary : $15.87 / hr. min - $19.44 / hr. mid (Depending on qualifications)
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and installation of traffic signs; to paint pavement markings and striping; to apply preformed plastic pavement markings; to install raised pavement markers; and to maintain records on materials and equipment used.
General supervision is provided by the Signs and Markings Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures
Maintain and install regulatory, directional, warning and construction signs; maintain inventory of signs used; complete work orders including work performed and materials and equipment used.
Review City ordinance on street signs and markings pertaining to height; ensure street signs adhere to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and guidelines outlined in the ordinance.
Paint pavement markings, school crosswalks and striping on City streets; use paint machine; maintain records on all work performed.
Remain on call 24 hours per day, seven days a week on a rotating basis.
Install and maintain street buttons.
Layout and stripe City parking lots.
Prune vegetation to prevent view obstructions.
Apply preformed thermoplastic pavement markings in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Apply raised pavement markers in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Ensure that assigned signs & markings shop vehicles and equipment are serviced regularly; and perform minor repairs and maintenance as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
