Accountant 4 - Fiscal Operations Appropriation Control
At the Louisiana Department of Education, we're looking for an Accountant 4 in Fiscal Operations Appropriation Control to function as a lead accountant. The Accountant 4 is primarily responsible for financial control, complex reports, and payable activities ensuring compliance with OSRAP and other control agency policies, and the state public finance law.

Minimum Qualifications :
Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; ORSix years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; ORA bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; ORA bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; ORAn advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; ORPossession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION : Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information :
Serve as assistant to the Accountant Manager and technical specialist in accounting functions.Prepare expenditure financial transaction documents and coordinate claim reimbursement activities.Reconcile the general ledger for accurate expenditure and revenue postings.Prepare financial statements and fiscal reports, which include the compilation and analysis of data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.Respond to inquiries from local educational agencies, non-public recipients, other state agencies and the general public regarding grant awards, grant guidelines and federal regulations.Position-Specific Details :
Appointment Type : Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment.The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.Career Progression : This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.Work Schedule : Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.Compensation : The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.Note regarding the advertised pay range : The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
