The National Security Sector is seeking an Engineering Technician Level II to join our Towed Array IMA program. This role is vital in supporting the Towed System Intermediate Maintenance Activity (TS IMA), providing direct fleet support for towed acoustic systems installed on submarines and surface ships, including round-the-clock casualty assistance support.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct physical inspections, electrical testing, troubleshooting, and assembly of towed array modules. Duties also include shipboard installation and removal of towed bodies while working under various weather conditions or indoors. Some travel—both overseas and within the continental U.S.—may be necessary at short notice. This position occasionally requires overtime to align with U.S. Navy operational schedules and may involve extended travel to support surge work at other Towed System IMAs.
The selected applicant will receive on-the-job training and is expected to qualify as a Towed Systems IMA technician. Interaction with Navy, Government, and civilian support contractors is essential. For advancement within the IMA program, candidates must eventually qualify as a Pier-Side Supervisor according to specified Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS). Candidates should be prepared to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Additionally, applicants must be capable of obtaining and retaining a Department of Defense security clearance at the Secret level and must have the ability to secure a U.S. Passport.
