Job description
DutiesBPM232H1: An overview of the encounter between Buddhism and psychology over the last century, with cross-disciplinary study of topics such as self, embodiment, impermanence, suffering, liberation, and insight. We explore how (and why) scientists, psychologists, and Buddhist reformers have reinterpreted Buddhism as “science” and how Buddhist contemplative practices such as mindfulness or compassion training have been transformed and promoted by modern psychology. DUTIES: Holding office hours; consulting with the course instructor; advising students about and marking assignments; and may include attending/viewing lectures. Minimum Qualifications The candidate should be familiar with topics and content addressed in the course, particularly in relation to the practices and theories of meditation and mindfulness. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of, or engaged in research related to, Buddhist Studies and/or the interactions between Buddhism and Psychology. Relevant CriterionPrevious experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
