Job descriptionBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting or business operations; previous experience in a non‑profit organization desirable. CPA license or 2‑4 years of public accounting experience. Intermediate computer skills including MS Office applications and prior ERP knowledge. Experience with NetSuite or Yardi is a plus. Prior accounting management or related field experience. Strong leadership, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment while maintaining a positive approach. Works well independently and as part of a team. High comfort collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds.

This non‑profit organization has provided essential services to those in need since 1983. Due to growing demand, we are hiring an Assistant Controller for our San Francisco location. Our team is mission‑driven and dedicated to community impact.
Base Pay Range
$125,000.00 / yr – $130,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Supervise, lead, and support the Accounting Manager.
- Prepare internal consolidated financial statements on a regular basis.
- Assist the Senior Controller with the preparation of monthly financial statements, external audit, and establishment & maintenance of internal controls.
- Research accounting issues for GAAP compliance and research tax matters as assigned.
- Ensure general ledger accounts are analyzed and reconciled on a regular basis.
- Oversee aging and transactions of selected balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare invoicing for various agency‑wide expenditures and monitor these accounts.
- Reconcile intercompany account balances with the Accounting Manager on a monthly basis.
- Assist in preparation of financial forecasts and projections.
