Pipe Foreman — Lead the Crew, Build the Legacy

As a privately owned civil contracting firm, we perform work throughout the Southeast, specializing in site development, underground utilities, roadway, and water / wastewater construction.
We’re seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to lead and develop pipe crews on large-scale civil construction projects in the Jacksonville area. You’ll take ownership of planning, execution, and performance — ensuring quality installations, safety, and production excellence every day.

What You’ll Do
Crew Leadership & Production
Lead a pipe crew in the installation of large-diameter underground utilities (storm, sewer, and water).
Plan daily work and communicate goals clearly to crew members.
Coordinate with Project Foremen and Superintendents to ensure materials, equipment, and manpower are efficiently utilized.
Maintain a productive, safe, and organized jobsite.
Technical & Quality Oversight
Ensure proper installation methods for all types of pipe (RCP, PVC, DI, HDPE, etc.).
Read and interpret plans, drawings, and grades to achieve correct elevations and alignments.
Set and operate lasers for grade and alignment; confirm installation accuracy.
Inspect work for quality and compliance — no leaks, no rework.
Track and report daily production quantities and timecards.
Safety & Training
Promote and enforce safety standards for all crew members.
Identify and correct hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
Mentor Hillmen, Tailmen, and Pipelayers to develop skill and accountability.
Support Petticoat-Schmitt’s A.C.T. culture in every task.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Skills
Minimum 3–5 years of pipe installation experience; 1+ years in a foreman or lead role preferred.
Proficient in reading plans, setting grade, operating lasers, and managing crew workflow.
Strong understanding of trench safety, compaction, and utility installation techniques.
Effective communicator and problem-solver with attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb in and out of trenches and work up to 20–30 feet below grade.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs regularly.
Reliable transportation within a 50-mile radius of Jacksonville and surrounding counties (Duval, Clay, Nassau, and St. Johns).

Work Schedule
Hours : Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, with overtime as needed.
Workweek : Typically 40 hours; overtime may occur based on project needs.
Requirements
Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Must have personal PPE (hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety vest, and orange shirt).
Must be able to meet client safety and jobsite requirements.
