Position Summary:
This position performs receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with direct and scheduled patient admissions at our medical clinics. they will also assist with performing patient assessments and treatments. Additional duties include:
Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary.
Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow-up.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire. New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this 'grace period' for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the position job description.
