AbilityFirst's Internship program is a unique opportunity for current participants at our sites to gain real-world experience within the Human Resources Department. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field who want practical experience in a collaborative HR setting. Interns will work closely with the HR and Operations teams on a variety of administrative and project-based tasks that support the employee experience from recruitment to retention.
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, hard-working, and creative. They will demonstrate a professional demeanor, work well with others, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Interns are expected to be able to commute to the various AbilityFirst Locations.
Interns will work directly with the Chief People Officer and Human Resources team to support key HR functions and initiatives. Responsibilities may include assisting with recruitment efforts (such as job postings, screening applicants, and scheduling interviews), supporting onboarding processes, maintaining employee records, and helping coordinate employee engagement activities. Interns will also contribute to special HR projects related to training and development, retention strategies, and process improvement. Ideal candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about the full employee lifecycle within a collaborative and mission-driven organization.
