Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Engineering with AI
Join the School of Civil, Aerospace and Design Engineering (CADE) at the University of Bristol. We are seeking a permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to lead teaching, research and academic administration in Engineering with Artificial Intelligence (AI). The role supports the launch of a new MSc in Engineering with AI (intake September 2026) and delivers undergraduate teaching in machine learning (ML) and AI across the department's top-ranking programmes.
Role Overview
- Deliver high-quality teaching on the new MSc Engineering with AI and support its management.
- Conduct impactful research in ML and AI applied to engineering challenges.
- Provide effective academic administration within CADE.
Responsibilities
Teach and deliver courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.Develop and supervise MSc and postgraduate research projects.Secure research funding and publish in high-impact journals.Participate in strategic planning, curriculum development and departmental leadership.Collaborate with industry partners and academic teams.Qualifications
Strong research background in ML / AI applied to engineering (e.g. aerodynamics, fluids, aeroacoustics, composites, control).Proven ability to conduct independent research and collaborate effectively.A clear, innovative vision for future research that enhances CADE's current strengths.A passion for teaching and delivering engaging, high-quality education in ML / AI.A collaborative approach to both research and teaching.Experience at Lecturer (Grade J / K) or Senior Lecturer (Grade L) level, with appropriate academic and / or industrial experience.Contact
