Introduction
The Vascular Sonographer for LVI / VCS performs a variety of vascular ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while demonstrating compassion to ensure overall patient quality care and satisfaction.
Job Objectives
- Perform vascular ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to upper / lower extremity venous and arterial dopplers with ABI / TP (including graft scans), carotids, abdominal vascular exams (including liver, kidney, aorta, visceral and TIPS dopplers), AV fistulas and grafts and lower extremity venous insufficiency mappings, following the protocols established by the radiologist. Patients are positioned and scanned correctly assuring the physician prescription and scan are the same.
- Research each patient in eCW for prior office visit notes and / or procedure notes prior to scanning the patient.
- Properly input all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history in complete sentences; correlating office and / or procedure notes, and any additional information regarding the procedure.
- Ability to present cases and discuss findings with the Interventional Radiologist and / or Mid-Level provider.
- Properly identify the patient and demonstrate compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explain the exam to the patient to ensure safety and cooperation.
- Provide Vein Care patients with test findings and expectations of care following the mapping procedure.
- Perform vein mapping scans with the patient in a standing position.
- Maintain the exam room, stock necessary supplies, and maintain equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider.
- Promote teamwork by assisting other staff as needed.
- Promote customer service as a priority.
- Perform other duties and related work as assigned.
Education and Experience
2 or more years in the Sonography field is preferredHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCompletion of course in Ultrasound; current RDMS certification is requiredCurrent Certification in RVT is requiredSkills & Qualifications :
