JOB SUMMARY :

The In-Shape Coach encourages our members to pursue a holistic approach to fitness through our group fitness and recreational sports programs offerings.

Coaches continually monitor members' needs and progress through safe exercises / routines, while creating an engaging and fun workout experience.

This role may lead live or virtual classes and work with all ages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Drive Business Results :

• Validates member's access to paid programming
• Motivates members to explore multiple group fitness classes, recreational sports programs and club amenities to enhance their fitness journey
• Promotes and participates in club events encouraging members and guests to attend

Deliver the Member Experience :

• Connects with members through being welcoming, and approachable; teaches authentically and gives genuine praise
• Delivers a motivating coaching experience in every class / clinic, providing solid cuing (verbal and non-verbal), a seamless class flow, along with a variety of modifications, so every member feels successful
• Coaches correct form and technique, so members are safe and benefit from each exercise / routine
• Demonstrates workout as a role model - proper form, technique, and equipment
• Assists with engaging members outside the class to build a community and promote a sense of belonging

Operational Excellence :

• Ensures members develop along a pathway that will encourage continued involvement in multiple programs within the club
• Follows procedures for equipment usage, storage, and maintenance
• Responsible for teaching all assigned classes and finding class substitutions when needed
• Completes assigned trainings and key tasks on time
• Responsibility for following and adhering to our #OneTeam approach on club cleanliness and safety standards outlined in our Cleaning standards playbook.
• This includes keeping the club clean & sanitized (free of trash, equipment picked up and organized, and wiped down with sanitizing agent);

on a regular basis and directed by club leadership

Demonstrate #OneTeam Attitude :

• Coaching others as well as open to being coached for professional growth
• Resolve concerns / problems ensuring our members needs are met and company guidelines are followed
• Analyze, interpret, and follow company policies (written, oral, diagram and or schedule form) to ensure safety of our club and team members
• Flexible / positive attitude in meeting and exceeding our members expectations

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS :

• HS diploma or GED equivalent
• Certifications are required and documentation must be submitted :

o For Group fitness Classes :

National certification (AFAA, ACE, etc.) or format specific training

i.e. Les Mills, Zumba, Keiser, WOD U-Jam Fitness, SilverSneakers, etc.) accepted

o For Sports Classes / Clinics :

• National certification is required : (ie. USPTA, USTA Net Generation, USAPA, IPTPA, US Masters certification)
• Audition is required as part of the selection process
• Strong motivational skills
• Must be able to work independently
• Trustline registered to coach children
• Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed
• Willing and able to work a flexible shift : evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and time constraints and display positive behaviors in all member contacts
• Bilingual skills a plus
• Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date

• WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours / day;

The employee may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.

During the COVID-19 pandemic : All In-Shape Team Members will be required to assist with greeting members to perform temperature checks and health screens, ensure members practice physical distancing and monitor cleaning of equipment after each use.

Detailed instructions will be provided at time of hire.

In-Shape Team Members will be required to comply with company policies regarding the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), by following instructions and outlined safety guidelines, to protect our team and club members.

Club Safety training and equipment will be provided. Team Members are to report to management, or designated team member, any safety risks or potential risks identified in the work environment.
