Description :

This is a position providing professional nursing care to patients in a developmental center.

The role involves observing, assessing, and recording symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients.

Responsibilities include making nursing rounds, taking and recording vitals, and administering prescribed medications and treatment plans.

The nurse will monitor restrained patients on a timely basis and provide immediate medical attention to emergencies.

Additional duties involve scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work of lower-level staff when assigned, participating in staff development and education, and training new employees.

Experience in a corrections medical environment is a plus, including evaluating care needed and administering medications.

The nurse may be responsible for organizing and overseeing emergency response teams.

Clerical tasks include charting and recording medications, completing reports, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory of medications and equipment.

The role may also involve arranging outpatient clinic appointments and serving as a liaison with other staff members.

Comprehensive knowledge of nursing procedures, regulations, and public relations is essential.

Skills in operating medical equipment are necessary, along with the ability to write meaningful reports and demonstrate physical fitness.
