Job Description
MAJOR FUNCTION
Provides Corporate Estimating Support to all districts. Estimating managers are responsible for estimating the cost of projects and materials. They work with a variety of different teams, including construction crews, purchasing agents, and other managers to determine how much it will cost to complete a project or purchase certain materials.
Reports to the Local Regional Vice President and Vice President of Estimating.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Embrace company’s Core Values in all aspects of the job
- Manage estimators and assistant estimators
- Prepare quantity take-offs
- Determine initial production rates
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Review bids from vendors or contractors to ensure they are fair and reasonable
- Coordinate with other managers to ensure schedules are met and projects are completed on time
- Review progress on projects and adjust schedules as needed
- Estimate materials costs and labor hours needed to complete projects
- Manage a team of employees to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively
- Ensure that contractors meet safety standards and comply with local regulations
- Review finished products to ensure that they meet quality standards
- Keep records of all project details and documentation such as contracts, bids, and correspondence
- Develop initial resource requirements
- Solicit material and subcontractor pricing
- Establish preliminary project schedules
Requirements
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE :
4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and / or related experience10 years estimating, cost control, and / or engineering experience (at least 4 years estimating experience) in similar facility constructionThorough knowledge of company procedure, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems and accountsAbility to estimate all types of projects / contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effortBenefits
